Scott Peterson sentenced to life imprisonment

Scott Peterson sentenced to life imprisonment after being exempt from the death penalty A California judge ruled on Wednesday that Scott Peterson was sentenced to life imprisonment without parole for the deaths of his wife and unborn child.

Peterson, 49, was convicted in 2004 for the murder of his wife Lachi and their unborn son Connor. Peterson was initially sentenced to death.

In August 2020, the California Supreme Court revoked Peterson’s death sentence after discovering that potential jurors were wrongly fired, partly because they expressed general opposition to the death penalty in the questionnaire.

On Wednesday, Judge Anne-Christine Masulo ordered Peterson to life imprisonment, not to be released on parole for the first-degree murder of Rach, and sentenced to 15 years in prison for the second-degree murder of Connor. Laci Peterson’s family spoke to Peterson in tears in court.
