An Amazon warehouse collapsed in Edwardsville hit by a tornado, with workers trapped inside
Workers were still trapped in the Amazon warehouse in Edwardsville, Illinois, after the building partially collapsed during the tornado and damaged the roof and walls of the building.
In the early hours of Saturday morning, search and rescue work was still in progress. Dozens of workers were evacuated to the local police station by bus and then to the local Pontoon Beach Police Station.
It is not clear how many people are still in the warehouse. On Saturday morning, the city of Edwardsville issued a statement to Newsweek, confirming that “there is a death toll at the scene.” The statement said: “Efforts are currently being made to notify close relatives.” “Search and rescue operations are still continuing at this time.”
The press conference is scheduled to be held at 5.45 am Central Time (6.15 am Eastern Time).
