Johnson scored a 48-yard field goal with 37 seconds remaining 5 days after joining the team. Washington defeated the Las Vegas Raiders 17-15 on Sunday for the fifth consecutive victory.
“I don’t even know his name,” defensive tackle Jonathan Allen said. “We just brought him up.” After Taylor Heinicke pushed the team into position after wasting an 8-point lead, Allen and the rest of the Washington offense now know.
“The atmosphere and everything, because I was not around it, I felt it as soon as I walked in,” said Johnson, who signed the position of injured Joey Slay on Tuesday.
“This is a great dressing room. They may still be learning my name, but it’s great here.”
